This website is operated by Chrissy Idle, author of Ghost Grandad: Mostly Yes.
I collect as little personal information as reasonably possible. This policy explains what may be collected when you use ghostgrandad.com and what happens to it.
Information you choose to give me
If you request the free first five chapters of Ghost Grandad: Mostly Yes, you provide your email address.
Your email address is used to send or provide access to the chapters you requested.
Requesting the free chapters does not automatically subscribe you to marketing emails.
If you contact me directly, I may also receive your name, email address and whatever information you choose to include in your message.
Why I use your information
I use personal information only where there is a lawful reason to do so.
For the free chapter request, I rely on your consent to use your email address for that purpose.
For correspondence and enquiries, I may process information where necessary to respond to you and for my legitimate interest in managing the website and communications relating to Ghost Grandad.
Technical information may also be processed where necessary for the security, operation and protection of the website.
Email delivery and website services
The website and email services use third-party service providers, including Hostinger and Hostinger Reach, to provide hosting, website functionality and delivery of the free chapters.
These providers may process limited personal or technical information on my behalf where necessary to provide their services.
I may also use service providers for website security, analytics or advertising. Where non-essential tracking technologies require consent, they will only be used in accordance with your cookie choices.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
This website may use cookies and similar technologies.
Some are necessary for the website to function. Others may be used for statistics, analytics or advertising.
Where consent is legally required — including for advertising or behavioural tracking technologies — these technologies will not be activated until you have made the appropriate choice.
More information is available in the Cookie Policy.
How long I keep information
Email addresses supplied solely to receive the free chapters will be kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to deliver them and deal with any delivery problems. They will not be kept indefinitely simply because you downloaded the sample.
Correspondence may normally be retained for up to 12 months after an enquiry has been dealt with, unless there is a legitimate reason to retain it for longer.
Technical and security records may be retained for the periods used by the relevant hosting or security provider.
Sharing your information
I do not sell personal information.
Information may be shared with service providers only where reasonably necessary to operate the website, deliver requested material, maintain security or provide services you have chosen to use.
I may also disclose information where required by law.
International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom.
Where this happens, appropriate legal safeguards are used where required under UK data protection law.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to:
- ask for a copy of personal information held about you;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- ask for information to be deleted;
- ask for processing to be restricted;
- object to certain types of processing;
- receive certain information in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis being used.
You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing.
If you withdraw consent, this does not affect processing which was lawful before consent was withdrawn.
Children
This website is not intended to collect personal information from children. If I become aware that personal information from a child has been collected unintentionally, I will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Security
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information, although no website or online service can guarantee absolute security.
